Windows Server Support Lifecycles

Windows Server 2012 and Windows Server 2012 R2 will reach the end of their support lifecycle on October 10th, 2023. There are three years of planned security updates until October 16th, 2026. However, Microsoft 365 Apps have not been supported on Windows Server 2012 or Windows Server 2012 R2, as of January 14, 2020. Read more about end of support from Microsoft here. Microsoft SQL Server 2012 also reached end of life for extended support in 2022.

We don’t recommend running software that is not currently supported due to a higher vulnerability to security breaches and limiting features. The below table outlines key dates for various products’ end-of-life and end-to-extended support. If your version is moving into Extended Support, we recommend creating a plan to migrate to a newer version before the Expended Support for your version ends.
